WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide, also allows users in India to send and receive money through UPI (Unified Payments Interface).
As more and more people adopt digital payments, consumers can use the app, besides other UPI apps, to conduct mobile transactions. The ability to make payments through WhatsApp using UPI has completely transformed peer-to-peer payment, and it is as easy as sending a message. WhatsApp Payments has an enormous number of opportunities and can rapidly increase the level of micropayments and, in general, the efficacy of the digital economy in India.
STEP1: To start with, users are advised to download new versions of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
STEP2: If you have not already linked your bank account to the UPI payment system, do it through any UPI payment app, including BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, etc. Ensure all the information you have placed in WhatsApp is correct, as with UPI applications.
STEP3: On your Android phone, open WhatsApp and tab Settings, then Payments, then Add Payment Method and tap Accept & Continue.
STEP4: It will list all of the UPI apps it has found on your phone, and it will let you choose one.
STEP5: When choosing an app, it will automatically begin a collect request by doing so. Get verified by entering your UPI pin to get the whole experience of using the drum. It will connect your bank account with WhatsApp.
STEP6: To send money, click on the contact’s chat window, touch the attachment icon, and go for Payment.
STEP7: input the payment amount and payment details. Check all the details and Press Send to effect the transfer immediately.
STEP8: To receive money, the sender needs your registered UPI ID or scan the QR code in the Payment options in WhatsApp.
STEP9: When the sender okays the transaction, you will receive a payment confirmation and a platform to receive it safely.
