Weve all watched the iconic crime-drama TV show CID where the crime branch officers solved various cases. The actor behind ACP Pradyuman Shivaji Satam recently revealed the reason the show went off-air after a 20-year run. In an interview with Friday Talkies Satam shared that CID was in direct competition with Amitabh Bachchans Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). A conflict arose between the shows makers and the channel over the time slot allotted to CID. Initially airing at 7 pm the show was moved to a 10 pm slot and later to 10:30 pm which contributed to its decline. Shivaji Satam told the news portal “We used to ask the channel why they were shutting it down. We were neck-to-neck with KBC. Yes the show experienced a slight decline in TRPs but what show doesn’t? Before discontinuing the show they tampered with its schedule. Originally it aired at 10 pm but they started airing it at 10:30 pm or sometimes even at 10:45 pm. This weaned the audience away or at least they tried to.” Shivaji Satam further informed the portal that the channel had issues with the program producer explaining “They likely had a problem with the producer and wanted to replace him. But for us it wasn’t just about loyalty; it was about friendship. We rose up together. We were a team.” CID premiered from 1998 and went off-air in 2018 making it one of the longest-running television series in India. There are 1547 episodes in total that had different cases to solve. Created by B.P. Singh and produced by Fireworks Productions the series became a staple for crime show enthusiasts. The series also starred Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks Ashutosh Gowariker as Sr. Inspector Virendra Dayanand Shetty Narendra Gupta and Aditya Srivastava.
