Ekta Kapoor issues statement in case filed under POCSO act: ‘Not involved in…’

Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor have issued an official statement in response to the case registered against them under the POCSO Act related to ALT Balajis web series Gandi Baat. The statement shared on ALT Balajis official Instagram clarifies that both Ekta and Shobha Kapoor are not involved in the day-to-day operations of ALT Digital Media Entertainment LTD. The company emphasised its compliance with all applicable laws including the POCSO Act and refuted claims regarding the involvement of minors. It highlighted that the company is managed by separate teams distancing the mother-daughter duo from the legal allegations. It is further clarified that Mrs Shobha Kapoor and Ms Ektaa R Kapoor are not involved in the day to day operations of the company and the same are managed by separate teams including its content strategy. The company has complete faith in the judiciary and is fully co-operating with the authorities in the investigation. since the matter is sub-judice the company refrains from commenting in detail the statement added. Mumbai Police interrogated producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor who were booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly showing inappropriate scenes involving minor girls in an episode of the ALT Balajis web series Gandi Baat.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by ALTT (@altt.in) On Monday during interrogation they have been asked to appear for questioning again on October 24. Mumbai Police has sought information about the actors working in the series. They will also record the statement of the actors and director of the film as per Mumbai Polices statement. The police also have asked Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor to bring some documents related to Alt Balaji. Earlier Mumbai Police registered a case against Ekta Kapoor Shobha Kapoor and Alt Balaji company under the POCSO Act. The case is related to season 6 of the web series Gandi Baat on the OTT platform Alt Balaji. It is written in the complaint that this series which streamed on Alt Balaji between February 2021 and April 2021 showed obscene scenes of minor girls. However this controversial episode is not currently streaming on this app. Meanwhile Ektaas drama film Love Sex aur Dhokha 2 was released in theatres on April 19. Titled LSD 2 the film is helmed by Dibakar Banerjee.
