150 grams poppy seeds
30 grams coconut
500 ml milk
20 ml ghee
10 grams raisins
200 grams rice
10 grams jaggery
5 grams green cardamom
2 nuts
5 grams mixed dry fruits
Step 1 Prepare the mixture of poppy seeds, coconut and rice
To make Gasagase Payasam, firstly roast the poppy seeds and rice until they turn golden brown. Grind the mixture coarsely, add grated coconut and water and grind again to make a smooth mixture.
Step 2 Add all the ingredients to milk and boil
Heat milk in a saucepan, add ground poppy seeds and coconut mixture, cardamom, jaggery and bring to a boil.
Step 3 Add dry fruits and boil till thickened
Add ghee, cashew nuts, raisins and cook until the mixture thickens. Garnish the payasam with mixed dry nuts and serve it hot.
