Deepti Sharma climbs to 2nd spot in ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings

Indian off-spinner Deepti Sharma has reached a career-high second position in the latest ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings, released on Tuesday, following a string of impressive performances.

The latest rankings highlighted Deepti’s contributions during the recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE and the ongoing series against New Zealand.

In the first two matches of the series against the White Ferns, Deepti claimed three wickets at an outstanding economy rate of 3.42, helping propel her up two places in the rankings.

She is now just behind England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who holds the top spot.

In addition to Deepti’s ascent, the rankings saw movement among other players. New Zealand’s Lea Tahuhu climbed three spots to 12th, Amelie Kerr rose one position to 13th, and Sophie Devine made a notable jump of nine places to share the 30th position, reflecting their strong performances in the T20 World Cup.

From an Indian perspective, Jemimah Rodrigues was the standout performer in the ODI batting rankings, moving up three spots to share 30th place.

In addition to her bowling accolades, Deepti improved her ranking by one place in the ODI all-rounders category, moving to third, while Devine rose two spots to seventh.

Zimbabwe also saw notable progress, with Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano jumping 21 places to 28th in the batter rankings and Josephine Nkomo improving 13 spots to 32nd among ODI bowlers, thanks to commendable performances in their recent series against the USA.
