SpiceJet to hold AGM on or before December 31

SpiceJet launched eight new flights, expanding its winter schedule to 40 routes. The airline focused on connecting tier-II cities and boosting connectivity. SpiceJet also cleared over Rs 600 crore in outstanding dues, including salaries and GST liabilities. The company raised Rs 3,000 crore through a QIP and settled with aircraft lessors, improving its financial stability.

Low-cost airline SpiceJet on Wednesday said that it would hold an Annual General Meeting for the financial year ended on March 31 on or before December 31, an extension of three months.

The company obtained an extension up to three months from the Registrar of Companies under Section 96 of the Companies Act, 2013.

On August 22, the ministry of Corporate Affairs had written a letter to the airline. According to that, SpiceJet should have held an AGM on September 30 as per requirements of section 96 of the Companies Act, 2013. However, the company had requested for an extension of time, which was granted.


SpiceJet introduces new flights

SpiceJet on Wednesday announced the launch of eight new flights starting November 15, 2024, an addition to its previously announced 32 winter flights.


SpiceJet also said that it will deploy its 78-seater Q400 aircraft in the newly routes from Jaipur to Varanasi, Amritsar, and Ahmedabad, as well as from Ahmedabad to Pune.

Last month, SpiceJet had announced 32 new flights as part of its winter schedule, which began on October 27, 2024. With 30 flights in the domestic sector and two international flights connecting Delhi and Phuket with non-stop daily service, the airline aims to boost connectivity and provide passengers with more travel options.

UDAN flights linking Shivamogga in Karnataka with Chennai and Hyderabad were also commenced and double daily flights between Chennai and Kochi were also introduced.

“These new flights reflect our commitment to supporting passenger demand across tier-II cities and beyond. With our expanded winter schedule, including international and UDAN routes, we aim to provide our customers with greater convenience, affordability, and seamless travel experiences,” said Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer, SpiceJet.

SpiceJet financial troubles

Beginning September 26, 2024, SpiceJet has cleared over Rs 600 Crore in pending dues, including outstanding salaries, GST liabilities, and Provident Fund (PF) contributions, the low-cost carrier said in a press release. Additionally, the company has also successfully reached settlements with multiple aircraft lessors.


The airline raised Rs 3,000 crore through a QIP in September. The airline's QIP was oversubscribed with 87 Indian and international institutions subscribing to the issue.

SpiceJet on October 29 cleared pending TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) dues amounting to Rs 310 Crore, including employee TDS, up to the second quarter of FY 2025.

The airline had not paid around Rs 220 crore in TDS from employees' salaries between April 2020 and August 2023.
