November 18, Abu Dhabi With the eighth edition of the league scheduled to start on November 21, the captains and head coaches of the ten clubs competing in this year’s Abu Dhabi T10 have already been announced.
After serving in the same capacity for the Bangla Tigers two years before, Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan is prepared to take the helm once again. Conversely, Younis Khan, the former captain of Pakistan cricket, will serve as the Tigers’ head coach for a third consecutive season.
Nicholas Pooran is returning to the Deccan Gladiators and will be leading the team for the third time in a row. The Gladiators won their second championship in 2022 and advanced to the 2023 tournament finals when he was captain. The Gladiators have chosen to keep Mushtaq Ahmed as their head coach without making any changes to the coaching staff.
West Indies T20I skipper Rovman Powell, who captained the Northern Warriors in 2022, has been appointed captain of the Delhi Bulls. After three years, Andy Flower will take Chris Silverwood’s place as head coach once again.
The two-time champion Northern Warriors will also experience a leadership shift as Trent Boult, a great bowler from New Zealand, replaces Angelo Mathews. In terms of coaching, the Warriors will have Dav Whatmore, a former Australian cricket player, as their head coach.
This season, former South African cricketer Mark Boucher will join Team Abu Dhabi as head coach, while English cricketer Phil Salt will take Dwaine Pretorius’ spot as captain.
Rohan Mustafa of Pakistan will lead the Morrisville Samp Army, while Lance Klusener, a former South African cricket player, has been appointed head coach for this season.
The New York Strikers, the reigning champions, have made the decision to keep its winning coaching and captain combination. Thus, for the third time, the Strikers will be led and trained by Kieron Pollard and Carl Crowe, who have been involved with the squad from its founding in 2022.
Charith Asalanka will be replaced as captain of the Chennai Braves Jaguars for the eighth season of the league by former Sri Lankan limited-overs captain Thisara Perera, while Douglas Brown will be replaced as squad coach this year by former Sri Lankan bowler Chaminda Vaas.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, an Afghanistan standout, will captain the UP Nawabs, who are playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 for the first time this year. This year, Owais Shah, a former English cricket player, has assumed the position of head coach.
When the Ajman Bolts make their tournament debut, Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will lead the team, while renowned cricket coach Ottis Gibson will serve as coach.
With two new clubs joining the league and some of the top players in the globe, the eighth edition of the league is sure to wow cricket fans with thrilling matches. The reigning champions New York Strikers will start their championship defense against Morrisville Samp Army the next day, while Team Abu Dhabi will face the just entered Ajman Bolts to start the competition.
The top four clubs in the standings at the end of the league stage will advance to the playoffs in the round-robin T10 competition. The qualifying and two elimination rounds will be held on the same day, December 1, marking the start of the playoff round.
On December 2, the ten teams will wrap up their 12-day battle, and the victor will raise the Abu Dhabi T10 season 8 trophy in the championship match.
