In an effort to lessen Google’s monopoly, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is allegedly urging Alphabet, the parent company of Google, to sell its Chrome browser.

An story from Bloomberg made reference to this. The judge who declared in August that Google had unlawfully monopolized the search industry is reportedly going to be asked by the DOJ to recommend actions pertaining to artificial intelligence and the Android operating system for smartphones.

On the subject, the DOJ has refrained from commenting. However, the possible decision was challenged by a Google spokesman.

“A radical agenda is being pushed by the DOJ. Google’s vice president of regulatory affairs, Lee Anne Mulholland, said that it will hurt customers and is beyond the current legal framework.

This action is seen as a bold attempt by the Biden administration to break up the dominance of large IT firms. But according to analysts, the result of this lawsuit may change if Trump wins the 2024 election.

In a different situation, Trump accused Google of prejudice two months before to the polls. A month before the election, he wondered whether it would be wise to split up the corporation.

Google plans to appeal the ruling that U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta is scheduled to give in the case next year.

Prosecutors also seem to have other objectives outside selling Chrome.

Google pays a number of smartphone firms, including Apple, billions of dollars year to make Chrome the default browser on their devices.

Prosecutors are getting ready to contest these agreements and stop them from happening again.
