Jan. 8, Patna Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday, saying that the “tired” leader had turned young people’s dreams into disappointments by depending on retired officials to run the state.
Tejashwi criticized the state government for spending Rs 225.78 crore on CM Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra, calling it a “Durgati Yatra” in a social media post.
Tejashwi, the leader of the RJD, said “The state administration was wasting hundreds of crores of rupees on advertisements for fake campaigns.”
Tejashwi said that the Nitish Kumar administration had plunged Bihar into poverty and hopelessness rather than promoting wealth, saying: “The state government has ruined the lives of Biharis and turned the state miserable.”
According to the RJD leader, the state is in “disarray” as a result of the Bihar administration’s “failure” in all areas.
“Hundreds of bridges collapsed in one monsoon season under the leadership of the insensitive government and its head,” he stated in reference to the state’s infrastructure.
He made the point that these kinds of instances are a reflection of poor planning and governance, which exacerbates the state’s problems.
He claimed that there was “rampant corruption” in the educational system, saying that “for the last two decades, every type of examination is being subjected to paper leaks.”
The leader of the RJD said that “such malpractices have destroyed the faith of Bihar’s youth in the system and worsened the state’s employment crisis” .
“Rising inflation is breaking the bones of people and small and large businesses are on the brink of collapse,” Tejashwi added, blaming the Nitish administration for the state’s deteriorating economic situation.
“Under the Nitish government, Bihar is topping the country in poverty, unemployment, corruption and migration compounding the misery of its residents,” said Tejashwi.
Tejashwi’s comments, which emphasize the government’s development efforts, coincide with CM Nitish’s Pragati Yatra.
The opposition, however, has continuously questioned these measures’ effectiveness and referred to them as eyewash.
