Odegaard comparisonsAs a Norwegian teenager, it is no surprise that Nypan has gained comparisons to Arsenal captain . However, it is more than just lazily putting two and two together.
Nypan has a similarly style of play to Odegaard and prefers to feature more as a creative midfielder rather than a defensive midfielder. Despite being just 18, his goals and assists figures are impressive.
He has bagged 13 goals and 11 assists in 60 appearances for Rosenborg already. Internationally, he has earned four caps for Norway's U21s.
Ronaldo inspiration and Manchester United supportPotentially working against Arsenal in their pursuit of Nypan is his support for rivals . Speaking in an interview with TV2 in 2023, the midfielder was asked about who he supported and his goals for the future.
The midfielder replied: "I've always been a Manchester United fan. Then of course there is Real Madrid.
"I'm a big fan. It's very unrealistic, but it's the dream [to follow in his footsteps].
£10m asking price and Manchester City edgeStarting off with the positive here and that comes with Nypan's asking price. It is believed that Rosenborg are only wanting £10m for the midfielder which could prove to be a steal if he can reach the heights of Odegaard.
However, City will feel they have the edge over Arsenal thanks to Nypan's agent. The midfielder is currently represented by Rafaela Pimenta who is also the representative of Erling Haaland.
City and Pimenta have a good working relationship having recently secured a whopping nine-and-a-half year contract for Haaland at the Etihad Stadium. As such, the Blues will feel they are ahead of Arsenal in the race for Nypan as they look to use that relationship to sign another Norwegian talent.
