New Delhi: Former Pakistan skipper Moin Khan has advised his countrys cricketers to steer clear of becoming too friendly with Indian players on the field stating that such behavior could be seen as a sign of weakness. His remarks come ahead of the upcoming ICC Mens Champions Trophy clash between the two nations in Dubai on February 23. Moin known for his aggressive nature and on-field banter during his playing days expressed confusion over the notion of being cordial with Indian players in a competitive environment.
I just dont get it when I watch Pakistan and India matches these days as Indian players come into the crease our players check their bats pat them have a friendly talk said the former head coach and chief selector during a podcast hosted by actor Ushna Shah.
Nowadays our players behaviour when playing against India is unfathomable to me. Even off the field as professionals you have to have certain boundaries he asserted.
Moin who was part of several intense encounters with India during his career emphasized that while respect for opponents is important excessive friendliness with them could prove detrimental.
Our seniors always told us that when playing against India give no quarter and no need to even talk to them on the field. When you get friendly they see it as a sign of weakness said Moin.
