Today we will talk about this 90s actor whose striking looks and mesmerising performances made him a promising star in Bollywood. Despite high hopes from his rising career his fate had something else planned. He is none other than Chandrachur Singh.
Chandrachur belongs to an illustrious family as his father Baldev Singh is an ex-MLA from Khair and his mother Krishna Kumari Devi is the daughter of Maharaja of Bolangir in Odisha. He did his schooling from The Doon School in Dehradun and higher studies from St Stephens College in Delhi University.
Chandrachur left his UPSC preparation as he had his inclination towards acting. In 1996 he made his Bollywood debut with Tere Mere Sapne alongside Arshad Warsi and Simran. The film was produced by Amitabh Bachchans banner ABCL. The film wasnt a massive success but opened doors for Chandrachurs acting career. He then appeared in Gulzars Maachis the same year opposite Tabu. The film emerged as a significant success followed by movies like Daag-The Fire (1999) Josh (2000) Kya Kehna (2000) and Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa (2001) among others.
Destiny took an unfortunate turn when Chandrachur suffered a serious injury in 2000 while riding a jet ski. He dislocated his shoulder and was advised a complete bed rest. That led him to decline several offers which ultimately caused a dip in his acting career.
Years later the Josh actor made a comeback to silver screen with movies like Chaar Din Ki Chandni and Zilla Ghaziabad but even they failed to do wonders. He then bounced back again and made a notable comeback years later with Ram Madhvanis 2020 gangster show Aarya on Disney+ Hotstar in which he played Sushmita Sens husband. In 2021 he was seen alongside Akshay Kumar in Ranjit Tiwaris 2022 Cuttputlli which also streamed on Hotstar.
