The upcoming romantic comedy-drama Film Club is set to hit TV screens later this year. An official release date is yet to be pinned down for the new series, which will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.

Ahead of Film Club's launch, the BBC has teased viewers with a collection of first-look images of the series, which is the screenwriting debut of actors Aimee Lou Wood and Ralph Davis.

Aimee, best-known from The White Lotus and Netflix's Sex Education, not only co-wrote but also stars in the show as Evie. She's joined by Nabhaan Rizwaan, cast as Noa, along with Suranne Jones of Doctor Foster fame and Liv Hill, recognized from Three Girls.

Adam Long, Arian Nik, Fola Evans Akingbola, co-creator Ralph Davis, and Owen Cooper round out the ensemble for Film Club, reports .

The official synopsis for Film Club states: "It's Friday night. 7pm. Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn't left the house in six months after a 'wobble', and tonight, things are different. Noa's got big news. A dream job is taking him across the other side of the country, which means that all of this is ending. That reality is hitting.

"That they're going to be forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends. Neither of them are the best when it comes to emotions but this time those emotions might be impossible to ignore.

"As if life weren't challenging enough already, Evie is going to be navigating this amongst the eccentricity of her family home - living with her fiercely loving single mum Suz, sister Izzie, and handsome boyfriend/sometime man of the house Josh. Film Club is a witty and emotional show about love and family, about whether we should follow our hearts or heads, and being in love with a friend."

Film Club is produced by Gaumont UK with ZDFneo's backing from Germany. Stella Merz takes on the role of producer, while Catherine Morshead directs.

The show boasts executive producers Alison Jackson, Jamie Jackson, and Aimee Lou Wood for Gaumont, joined by Nawfal Faizullah for the BBC.

The brains behind the series are co-creators and writers Aimee and Ralph, with Anna Jordan contributing to the fourth episode's script.

Film Club will air later this year on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.
