Billionaire Narayana Murthy-led Infosys Indias largest IT services firm offers lucrative salaries to its top executives but is also known for taking strict action against employees accused of workplace harassment and other serious charges. One such executive who was sacked from Infosys is Phaneesh Murthy an IIT Madras alumnus who earned an annual salary package of around Rs 45 crore. Who is Phaneesh Murthy? Born in a middle-income home in Bengaluru Karnataka Phaneesh Murthy earned a B.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras later joined IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) where he pursued a Post-Graduate diploma in Management (PGDMgt). After his graduation Phaneesh Murthy began his career working for Sonata Software in 1987 and later joined Narayana Murthy-led Infosys after five years. At Infosys Phaneesh Murthy rose through the ranks to become a top executive holding various important positions within the firm before he was unceremoniously sacked in 2013 after two women filed lawsuits against him. The lawsuits were eventually settled out of court with Murthy strongly denying the accusations throughout proceedings. According to details Phaneesh Murthy had received an overall compensation of around Rs crore in 2012 before he was fired a year later. Beyond Infosys In January 2003 Phaneesh Murthy founded and was a consultant for Quintant Services Limited a business services provisioning firm with a global services delivery model that was later acquired by iGATE Global Solutions Limited in August 2003. After joining iGATE Phaneesh Murthy played a vital role in restructuring the company. Murthy is also credited with the iGATE acquisition of Patni Computer Systems in 2011 for $1.22 billion which made iGATE one of Indias largest IT companies. Notably Patni Computer Systems the former employer of Narayana Murthy was double the size of iGATE at the time of the acquisition. Currently Phaneesh serves as the CEO of Primentor a consulting agency that mentors top executives.
