Veteran actress Zeenat Aman and her marriage with Sanjay Khan often made headlines in her time. The two tied the knot in 1978 despite the actor already being married. After marrying Zeenat reports surfaced that the veteran actress became a victim of domestic abuse. Reports suggest that during one of the heated arguments between the duo Sanjay slapped Zeenat so hard that it left permanent damage to Zeenats left eye. Similarly like a coin has two sides Sanjays version of the incident is completely different. In a recent radio interview Sanjay Khan opened up about the domestic violence claims. He said no one ever asked for the other side of the story or what he had to say about the incident. The veteran actor revealed that after his film Abdullah he received many film offers but turned them down. In the interview Sanjay said “Post the release of Abdullah I had gotten offers from many producers to work in some big films which I didn’t take. I was in self-exile for four years. I was so pained and horrified by the one-sidedness of the entire story. Nobody even asked me what happened. The actor further emphasized that it was a well-planned PR strategy against him. He said I was even accused of being responsible for her losing her eye. This is not right. Adding more about the incident Sanjay said that from 1981 to 1984 Zeenat was doing various movies and never complained about any eye issues. Later she developed a slight squint which he claimed was hereditary not because of him. Sanjay said It was hereditary and was labeled on me that I slapped her. I never slapped her. This was blasphemy. I have always respected all the leading ladies I worked with and never had an incident with anybody. He further pointed out that he thinks the matter grabbed limelight only after one particular journalist kept hammering on it. Talking about how much the incident affected him Sanjay reflected It mentally tortured me. I met her the very next day and she was perfectly okay. Then the press started this nonsense. Sanjay also revealed that two of his close friends Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand did not even give him a single call after the incident. Concluding the interview Sanjay said If they felt some injury was done by me to her they would have definitely asked me especially Raj ji. So it speaks a lot about the person. I have done no harm to anyone in my life. I have never harmed her or disturbed her mentally. It was a one-sided thing.
