The glamorous 97th Academy Awards ceremony took place on Sunday evening at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the crème de la crème of Hollywood’s talents were awarded in 23 competitive categories. The night’s biggest winners included the romantic comedy-drama Anora, which won the highest number of awards at five top categories.
Sean Baker was the director for Anora that took home the Best Picture accolade, a testament to how great it stands out among this year’s competition. Baker’s direction was recognized as well by taking home the Best Director title for his rich storytelling and filming imagination. Lead actress Mikey Madison was honored with the Best Actress title due to her memorable performance, along with Anora’s win as Best Editing and Best Original Screenplay.
Another big winner of the night was The Brutalist, which bagged three Oscars. The main actor in the film, Adrien Brody, received the Best Actor prize for his dramatic performance.
In addition, Wicked: Part One, Amelia Pérez, and Dune: Part Two each received two awards, proving to have diverse talent and genres of storytelling as well.
The 97th Oscars honored a diverse range of outstanding films and performances, acknowledging excellence in filmmaking and reaffirming Hollywood’s creative strength on the world stage.
