New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has partnered with Dubais DP World to introduce an innovative logistics solution for the petrochemicals industry. Under this partnership freight transport will be shifted from road to rail leading to a significant reduction in carbon emissions. Logistics operator DP World stated in a release that the new solution will connect Reliance Industries Jamnagar plant to DP Worlds inland container depot (ICD) in Ahmedabad and then to Mundra port. Previously each container had to undergo about 700 kilometers of road transport during the movement between Mundra and Jamnagar. The statement said that with the new solution the approximately 700-kilometer long Ahmedabad-Jamnagar-Mundra route has been converted to rail. This integrated rail service can transport up to 1260 tons of goods and connects 45 containers at a time. This reduces the need for many trailers and drivers. Reliance Industries Limited has been streamlined by the shift from road to rail reducing carbon emissions said Ravi Kumar Nair the operational head of the petrochemical segment. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is the countrys most valuable company.
