Teresa Giudice and her husband, Luis Ruelas, are facing serious financial trouble. According to public records, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star and her husband have been hit with more than $3 million in tax liens—with Teresa owing $303,889.20 and Ruelas responsible for nearly $2.6 million.
To make matters worse, Ruelas was also issued another lien in December 2024 for $163,523.94, and court records indicate that the case remains unresolved.
For longtime RHONJ fans, this isn’t the first time Teresa has been caught up in financial troubles. In 2015, she served 11 months in federal prison after being convicted of mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud alongside her ex-husband, Joe Giudice.
Teresa has always been vocal about her experience, insisting that her celebrity status played a role in her legal fate.
She has maintained that her involvement was minimal, claiming she unknowingly signed two real estate contracts connected to Joe’s business dealings. Joe, meanwhile, served 41 months in prison before being deported to Italy in 2019, which ultimately led to their divorce after 20 years of marriage.
Teresa met Luis Ruelas during a Jersey Shore vacation in 2020, and the two quickly fell in love. They got engaged in 2021 and tied the knot the following year in a lavish wedding.
Before the wedding, Teresa surprised many when she announced on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show that she and Ruelas had chosen not to sign a prenup. Given the financial troubles they’re now facing, some are questioning whether that was the right decision.
