The legendary Novak Djokovic of Serbia became the oldest ATP Masters 1000 semifinalist in the history of the series after defeating Sebastian Korda 6-3, 7-6(4) in a quarterfinal match that was rescheduled from Wednesday.

Roger Federer made it to the last four at Indian Wells and Miami in 2019 at 37 years and seven months, but Djokovic is now the oldest ATP Masters 1000 semifinalist in series history (since 1990) at 37 years and 10 months.

Currently ranked 79th at the Masters 1000 level and in his seventh Miami semifinal, Djokovic will next take on Grigor Dimitrov, the 14th seed, whom he leads 12-1 in their ATP Head-to-Head series.

The Serb hopes to break his tie with Andre Agassi for the most championships at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. He is vying for his 100th tour-level trophy and his record-breaking seventh triumph in south Florida.

In the first set, Djokovic was almost faultless on serve, losing just one point to his first delivery. According to ATP Stats, the fourth seed won the last 12 games to finish out the opening set in spectacular fashion.

In the second set, Korda raced to a 3-0 lead and then served for it at 5-3. But Djokovic stepped up, launching lengthier skirmishes at crucial stages and making mistakes from the American, who was two points away from winning the set on the comeback at 6-5, and won the match in a tiebreaker.

In another match, Taylor Fritz defeated Matteo Berrettini to keep his spotless record after losing six match chances in a thrilling second set.

The Italian was defeated 7-5, 6-7(7), 7-5 by the third-seeded American during an exciting two-hour, forty-four-minute quarterfinal.

Fritz has advanced to his first Miami semifinal and sixth ATP Masters 1000. Czech player Jakub Mensik, who is playing in his first ATP Masters 1000 semifinal, is the next opponent for the eight-time tour-level titlist.
