Ritu Nanda was an Indian entrepreneur author and prominent member of Kapoor family a dynasty renowned in Bollywood. Born on October 30 1948 she was the daughter of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor and sister to actors Rishi Kapoor Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. She passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Ritu Nanda became a successful insurance advisor Although Showman Raj Kapoors daughter Ritu Nanda is no longer with us but her remarkable personality and achievements continue to be remembered. She was married to Rajan Nanda a well-known industrialist and former owner of Escorts. Despite being a part of the renowned business family Ritu chose to carve her own path and ventured into the insurance sector. In 1980 she took a bold step by establishing her own insurance company Eskolife as an LIC agent. At the time many doubted her decision and even laughed at her ambition. However she proved them wrong with incredible success. Ritu herself spoke about this journey in Debashish Ghoshs book The Voyage of Excellence: The Ascent of 21 Women Leaders of India INC where she shared insights into her challenges and triumphs. Ritu Nanda ventured into the business world with her company Nikitasha which specialised in kitchen appliances. However the venture did not achieve success she had hoped for. Despite this setback Ritu viewed as it a learning experience and applied the knowledge she gained to the insurance sector. Her determination and expertise in the field earned her numerous accolades. She even secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for selling staggering 17000 pension policies in a single day. In 2006 her excellence was further recognised when she was invited by the Million Dollar Round Table- a prestigious Global organisation of top insurance agents to address its members. With this huge honour she became the first woman to receive such a distinction. For the unversed Ritu Nanda and Rajan Nanda have two children- s0n Nikhil Nanda who is married to Shweta Nanda daughter of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan and daughter Natasha Nanda.
