The city will formally start the e-rickshaw registration and route assignment procedure on April 21. To check the documentation and suitability of e-rickshaws and electric vehicles, special camps will be set up at ten different places with representatives from the RTO, Traffic Police and Municipal Corporation. After being accepted, cars will get a special QR code that will connect to a monitoring website and app.
The goal of this project is to improve traffic flow and lessen congestion brought on by e-rickshaws and cars stopping haphazardly at crossroads and roundabouts. Authorities have decided on 30 specific routes for registered e-rickshaws and electric cars to travel in order to solve the problem. To make sure they only travel on approved routes, these cars will be assigned a unique number, colour marker, and QR code dependent on the route.
A business was previously chosen by the Municipal Corporation to create the app and QR code system, and it is now complete. The program would enable instantaneous e-rickshaw credential verification for police, RTO, and Municipal Corporation authorities.
