Thunderstorms wreak havoc in UP! 20 killed, 45 animals also victims, CM announces compensation

The weather changed on Wednesday evening in Uttar Pradesh. In many areas of the state, there was a storm with heavy rains, along with the rain in Saharanpur-Lalitpur, hail also fell, due to the sudden change in the weather, 20 people have died in the state so far. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs 4-4 lakh to the families of the deceased.

Due to sudden rains in the state, there has been a danger of rotting wheat due to water filling in the field. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will continue to change in the next 24 to 48 hours. Strong winds may blow and there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms caused havoc

According to the details provided by the Relief Commissioner Office of Uttar Pradesh, on April 10, 2025, there have been incidents of total 22 loss of life, 45 animals and 15 houses damage. There has been 17 in Ghazipur district, 06 in Chandauli district, 05 in district Ballia, 03-03 in Balrampur and Gonda, 03-03 in district Sultanpur, 02 in district Sultanpur, 01-01 in district Amethi, Kannauj and Gorakhpur in Fatehpur district.

Apart from this, incidents of house damage have also come out from many districts. 2-2 houses have been damaged in Ghazipur, Sultanpur and Lakhimpur Kheri. In Ballia, Gonda, Barabanki, Ambedkarnagar, Gorakhpur, Auraiya, Hardoi, Lucknow and Mau, 1-1 houses have suffered partial or complete damage.

CM Yogi announces compensation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences on the loss of storm and celestial lightning in the state. He has instructed the families of the late persons to distribute the relief amount of Rs 04 lakh immediately. The Chief Minister has expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against the officials responsible for any negligence in the compensation process.

He has given instructions to get proper treatment of the injured in this natural disaster. CM Yogi has also given instructions to provide permissible assistance to the affected people on animal loss. There is a provision to give compensation amount of Rs 37,500 in large milking loss, Rs 4,000 in loss of animal, Rs 32,000 in large non-durable animals and Rs 20,000 in small non-durable animals.
