When the Delhi Capitals (DC) take on the inconsistent Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, they will be looking to make rapid changes and improve their prospects of making it to the IPL 2025 playoffs since they are currently leading the points table and have an undefeated streak.
With the first IPL champions winning 15 games and losing 14 others, RR had a slim lead over DC in the head-to-head record. When it comes to their record in New Delhi, RR has won five times and lost seven times.
When DC returned to their old home field on Sunday, there were strong expectations that they would continue their winning run. However, the Mumbai Indians had other plans. They deftly used the ball change rule to force a batting collapse from DC after the interval, condemning the hosts to a heartbreaking 12-run loss.
Despite the defeat, impact player Karun Nair’s brilliant performance in his first match of the tournament—a stunning 40-ball 89—would have cheered the DC think tank. Up until he was overwhelmed by a Mitchell Santner jaffa, Nair was obviously on a mission to make DC win with his well-executed, dazzling strokes, particularly against Jasprit Bumrah.
After being thrashed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by nine wickets in Jaipur, RR is traveling to New Delhi. The fact that RR’s hitting hasn’t connected as a team and that the team doesn’t have enough batting depth is a big problem for them.
