Champions Trophy 2025: In response to mounting rumors over the Indian team’s intended trip to Pakistan for the competition the following year, Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed confidence that all countries, including India, would participate.

The massive ICC event is scheduled to take place in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The eight-team competition is scheduled to begin on February 19 of the next year.

India has not visited Pakistan in the last 16 years due to tense political ties between the two nations, but PCB president Naqvi is optimistic that India will finally break the long wait and visit the neighboring nation for a major event. India has not visited Pakistan since July 2008.

“Mujhe puri umeed hai, Indian team… It’s not like that at all, so let’s see if we can postpone or cancel. Next year, Team India will visit Pakistan to compete in the Champions Trophy. All teams will attend,” Naqvi informed reporters.

Inquiries from the press also concerned Naqvi’s possible future encounters with Jay Shah, the new head of the International Cricket Council.

The specifics of his meetings, in my opinion, have not yet been determined. The Indian team decides to postpone or cancel their participation since there has been nothing of the like up to this point. Thus, every team will attend,” Naqvi said.

The Asia Cup 2023, meanwhile, was originally slated to take place in Pakistan. However, due to reluctance on the part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send players to the neighboring nation, the tournament was eventually held under a hybrid format, with the Men in Blue playing their matches in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan first visited India in December 2012 to play the three-match T20I series and ODI matches. When Pakistan participated in the ODI World Cup in 2023, which was contested entirely in India for the first time under Babar Azam’s leadership, they made their most recent trip to the country.

India has not yet confirmed their participation in the major event, although it is possible that the competition may follow a hybrid format, similar to what happened with the Asia Cup the previous year.
