Returning voices

The much-awaited Shrek 5 will bring back franchise veterans Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy.

The teaser also features a cameo from Pinocchio, who adds to the clip's lighthearted tone with one of his infamous lies.

Fans can't wait to see the dynamic between these familiar faces and Zendaya's new addition to the Shrek family.

Throwing it back to her 2017 tweet about frequently watching Shrek, the official Shrek account reshared it with the comment, "This aged well."

Connecting the dots: Is Zendaya voicing Felicia in 'Shrek 5'?
Revisiting the franchise

In Shrek the Third (2007), Shrek and Fiona welcome their first children—triplets named Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia.

By the time of Shrek Forever After (2010), the trio is still quite young. If no additional children were born between the last film and the upcoming Shrek 5, Zendaya is likely voicing Felicia, the only female among the original triplets.

It remains unclear whether Fergus and Farkle will appear in the new film or who might voice them.

'Shrek' franchise: A look back at its legacy
Franchise history

The Shrek series first enchanted audiences in 2001, winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

It was followed by Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek the Third (2007), and Shrek Forever After (2010).

The franchise follows the journey of an unlikely hero—an ogre named Shrek—who starts as a grumpy loner but grows into a loving husband, father, and friend.

Antonio Banderas's character, Puss in Boots, even headlined his spinoffs: Puss in Boots (2011) and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022).
