New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Arun Bharti on Wednesday backed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and said that the bill will benefit both Muslim community and the country.He further reiterated party president Chirag Paswan's commitment to uplifting Dalit Muslims, Ansari Muslims, and Pasmanda Muslims, emphasising the need for government support alongside divine blessings."Our President Chirag Paswan wants Dalit Muslims, Ansari Muslims, and Pasmanda Muslims to move forward. Those left out of the mainstream not only need 'Allah ki rehmat' but also require government's help. During the Congress regime, many Waqf Bills were presented, but due to a lack of transparency, corruption prevailed. When Congress is in power, they talk about administrative reforms practically, but in Opposition, they use sensitive issues for political gains," Bharti said in the Lok Sabha.Commenting on the reported fatwa against Chirag Paswan, Bharti said, "You must have seen it in the newspapers. I want to tell those who issued it that you are complaining against the son of a leader who once risked his party to support a Muslim chief minister. But today, when the Waqf Bill is brought for your benefit, you stand with those who opposed a Muslim chief minister."The bill aims to amend the Waqf Act,1995 to redress the issues and challenges in regulating and managing Waqf properties.The Amendment Bill seeks to improve the administration and management of waqf properties in India. It aims to overcome the shortcomings of the previous Act and enhance the efficiency of Waqf boards by introducing changes such as renaming the Act, updating the definitions of waqf, improving the registration process, and increasing the role of technology in managing waqf records.The Waqf Act of 1995, enacted to regulate Waqf properties, has long been criticised for issues such as mismanagement, corruption, and encroachments.
