Manoj Kumar the renowned actor and filmmaker known for patriotic films passed away on April 4 2025. He was 87 when he took his last breath at Mumbais Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. According to media reports the cause of Kumars death was identified as cardiogenic shock due to acute myocardial infarction. Manoj was one of the most celebrated actors in Bollywood. Through his movies he awakened the feeling of patriotism among the people. However do you know that he had a connection with the place where terrorist Osama bin Laden was killed?
Yes while this may sound a bit absurd let us walk you through the details. Manoj Kumar was born on 24 July 1937 in a Brahmin family in Abbottabad a city in the North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Pakistan. Do you know what similarity the place shares? Before the partition the area used to come under India. However when Manoj was 10 he had to move out from Jandiala Sher Khan to Delhi due to the partition. As a result Manojs family lived as refugees in Vijay Nagar Kingsway Camp but later moved to the Old Rajendra Nagar area in Delhi.
Manoj Kumar went to Hindu College Delhi University for his studies. Then he decided that the path he wanted to pursue was acting and went for auditions.
After facing struggles Manoj finally made his debut in Fashion in the year 1957. However his real stardom came when he worked in Hariyali Aur Raasta opposite Mala Sinha. After this another of his superhit films Woh Kaun Thi was released in the year 1964. In the following years Kumar gave many hits and became a superstar in the industry.
During his career span Manoj featured in 35 movies and earned a name for himself. As he passed away today Kumar took a golden era with himself which was loved by the audience.
