Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal says that there has been a reduction in the import duty on gold in the country. Therefore, women will no longer face any problem in buying Mangalsutra. Piyush Goyal said in a program that the price of gold has fallen due to reduced import duty. With this, our mothers, sisters and all other women of the country will now be able to easily buy big and heavy Mangalsutra.
When Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the full budget in July this year, she had drastically reduced the import duty on gold. Due to this, import of gold into the country has become cheaper. Piyush Goyal also said that there was a demand to reduce duty in the gold industry for a long time. The issue arose that the tax on gold should be removed so that traders and customers can remain profitable.
Piyush Goyal made a unique request to the Gem and Jewelery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). He asked jewelers to promote India's tourism places through gold shops abroad. This will help and benefit the country and the entire region. Many jewelers of India have big business in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Gulf countries. In such a situation, Indian tourist destinations can be promoted at these shops.
