On the fifth day of the second and final Test at Green Park on Tuesday, India bowled Bangladesh out for a meager 146 runs thanks to the bowlers’ collective efforts.

Bangladesh have set a target of only 95 runs for the hosts to pursue in the last two sessions at lunch on Day 5.

The visitors were at 26/2 when the last day of the Kanpur Test began, knowing they would need to score 26 more runs to beat the team captained by Rohit Sharma.

For their teams, Mominal Haque (0*) and Shadman Islam (7*) got things going. After scoring only two runs off the spin of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Mominal was ordered back to the dressing room before either of the batsmen could add another ten runs to the total.

With three wickets lost, Bangladesh reached the 50-run mark in the 19th over.

In the 25th over, Shanto and Shadman reached their 50-run partnership when the latter hammered a boundary off the bowling of Mohammed Siraj, a right-arm seamer.

Shortly after the drinks break, in the 28th over of the innings, Shanto returned to the pavilion with 19 runs, including two fours. Ravindra Jadeja, a left-arm spinner, removed the skipper.

Shanto and Shadman had established a fantastic partnership of 55 runs in 84 balls. Shadman Islam hit 10 fours to finish his half-century in 97 balls on the last ball of that over.

With the team total at ninety-three, Shadman Islam was removed in the 29th over after scoring fifty runs off the bowling of right-arm seamer Akash Deep.

The team captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto lost two wickets at 94 runs. It was Jadeja who claimed both wickets. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was at the crease with the seasoned Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle after seven wickets fell.

With a boundary off the bowling of Jadeja in the 34th over, Mehidy Hasan helped the Bangladeshi team reach their 100-run milestone.

The Bangladeshi team lost their eighth wicket at 118. Jasprit Bumrah, a right-arm seamer, dismissed Mehidy Hasan for nine runs.

In the 41st over, the seamer struck once again. At 130 for the visitors, Bumrah removed Taijul Islam for zero points.

Mushfiqur, who had amassed 37 runs in his innings, was removed by Bumrah at 146, the last wicket of the third innings.

In their individual periods, Bumrah, Jadeja, and Ashwin each claimed three wickets for India. During his tenure, Akash Deep took one wicket.

Brief Scores: India: 285/9 d (Yashasvi Jaiswal 72, KL Rahul 68; Mehidy Hasan Miraz 4/41) vs. Bangladesh: 233 & 146 all out (Shadman Islam 50, Mushfiqur Rahim 37, Jasprit Bumrah 3/17).
