Batters Left Perplexed and Confused as Jasprit Bumrah ‘Bullies’ Bangladesh With Unplayable Off Cutters

Bangladeshi hitters have been struggling against Jasprit Bumrah’s off-cutter delivery, which he has once again shown to be a master of. What makes his off-cutter so successful is the nuance that comes from his special wristwork. It is precisely this wristwork that makes his off-cutter so difficult for the batters to break, even if there have been no obvious alterations in his technique.

Bumrah’s distinct wrist movement produces his off-cutter. For the off-cut, he snaps his wrist laterally as opposed to straight down, as he does with his seam-up deliveries. The ball behaves erratically as a result of this motion, making it very difficult for hitters to interpret.

This subterfuge was directed for the seasoned Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batsman, Mushfiqur Rahim, in the last ball before lunch.

Rahim tried to play a massive shot, but Bumrah released his slower off-cutter with a brilliant move. The ball rolled, made a sudden break, and left Mushfiqur wondering what to do.

Especially while playing on Indian soil, Bumrah has been in outstanding form for India in Test matches. Take a peek at his stats below.

44 wickets at an average of 15.40 with a strike rate of 32 in 10 Test matches played in India.

Test Results for 2024: Bumrah has taken 38 wickets in 14 innings at an average of 14.42, a strike rate of 27.5, and an economy of 3.13.

These stats clearly demonstrate his potential to outclass other teams, particularly in situations when his deadly combination of quickness and mobility becomes a huge advantage.

Day 5 saw Bangladesh crumble in the second innings for 146, with Jasprit Bumrah (3/17), Ravindra Jadeja (3/34) and Ravichandran Ashwin (3/50) sharing nine wickets between them and Akash Deep (1/20) accounting for one batsman.

With a 52-run advantage going into the first inning, India needed to easily defeat the visitors by scoring the necessary 95 runs in the next two sessions.
