Before Arsenal (the Gunners) takes on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League, head coach Mikel Arteta of the Gunners had a pre-match news conference where he discussed a number of topics related to the match and the league in general.

He said, “They’re really tough,” acknowledging PSG’s task. They are outstanding and rule every aspect of the game. They know exactly how they want to use the ball to control the game, and they know that when they don’t have it, they want it back. According to Arsenal’s official website, “They confront you and are really aggressive with it.”

“We’re looking forward to it,” Arteta said, expressing his enthusiasm for the team’s first home Champions League match of the season. We want these kinds of evenings, and we want to have them against an incredible opponent. All we need is a little time.”

Speaking about the many methods Arsenal has used to win games this season, he said, “We’ve had some pretty diverse ones! We ultimately lost two points in the last minute of the match because we had to play a completely different game against Manchester City in the second half. When I watched the game again, I was very happy with the squad because of how much we produced while playing against a low block like we did versus City and facing numerous problems.”

Arteta reminisced about the Champions League evenings at Emirates Stadium, saying, “Everyone is excited about it.” We missed it for many years, and we finally had the chance to do it last year, which was the first time in a long time. This season, the group stage is a little different, and the opponent we play tomorrow is perhaps the best in all of European football. However, as stated by Arsenal’s official website, “it’s a good opportunity for us to see how we deal with these nights, how prepared we are, and how we can impose ourselves in this kind of context.”

About his connection to Luis Enrique, Arteta said, “I’m a big fan of him.” Incredible character, tremendous enthusiasm, and a constant source of encouragement for young athletes characterize this individual. I adore him because his imprints are everywhere, whether he’s been a manager or a player. The way his players act and how they want to attack and control games, you can tell it’s his squad. He has this incredible influence with all the teams he’s been at and with the Spain national team. It’s their passion and energy. I gained a lot of knowledge from him and found his attitude to life and work to be rather admirable.”

As Arsenal prepares to play one of Europe’s top teams at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, Arteta’s comments set the setting for an interesting match.
