Waste Bags on Floor, Cockroaches and Foul Smell: Hyderabad Dairy Units Violate Hygiene Guidelines
Hyderabad: A milk house (dairy manufacturing) unit in Hyderabad was found to be violating all hygiene standards as the conditions were filthy, with waste bags seen dumped on the floor. There was only one toilet, as per the officials, that too opened in the manufacturing unit, increasing the risk of contamination. Apart from this, the food safety officials also found the presence of cockroaches there.
The officials shared that the internal structures were made up of iron sheets, which were found to be rusty. Flooring was patchy, and uneven with water stagnation and was also found to be omitting a foul smell.
“Waste bags, wooden logs, plastic containers, etc were found to be dumped and disposed off the floor. Food handlers were found without aprons, headgear, shoe cover etc and spitting was observed at some places in the unit. Fostac Certificates and Employee health records were not available,” said the Food Safety officials.
It also mentioned that there was only one toilet provided that opened directly into the manufacturing premises which may lead to contamination. Apart from that, manufacturing as well as storage was being done in an unhygienic and dirty environment.
“Pest control records are not available and the presence of pests like house flies, mosquitoes and cockroaches has been noticed,” the officials added.

Before that, the officials had visited La Vie En Rose Cafe in Gachibowli’s Indira Nagar area. The popular cafe was found to have a slippery floor and an unhygienic kitchen.
“Windows and doors are not fitted with insect-proof screens. The kitchen floor is slippery. Used oil is not being checked for total polar compounds and is suspected to be used beyond the permissible limit. Ceiling and walls in the cake preparation area were found with flaking paint and shedding particles. Some of the raw materials in the store are not labelled,” said the officials in a post shared on X.
